On the edge of the Purbeck hills, overlooking the valley of the Frome, this lovely Victorian country house is a charming blend of grand yet intimate. A beautiful spot if you're planning a stay.
Beautiful in all weather (except maybe fog...), Hengistbury Head has a little of something for everyone - forest, sandy beaches, gentle hilly walks. Or if you want a relaxed day take the Hengistbury Head Land Train from the café to the harbour entrance. This is a little oasis of unspoilt coastline. I always plan my trip just in time for the sunset. Stunning.
This is the place to stop for a pick me up. If you're passionate about coffee avoid a chain and find a great local coffee place. The South Coast Roast will not disappoint, with great coffee and a relaxed atmosphere it's a great place to work from. Of course, if the shadow is over the yardarm then I could recommend a very good local gin I know...
This is fine dining and it's a gem. Hidden away between Southbourne and Christchurch, the husband and wife team at Restaurant Roots create menus inspired by nature. If you can't make your mind up I recommend trying the tasting menu.
Dramatically positioned on a cliff top overlooking the sea, this stately home was a gift from Russell-Cotes to his wife - and they spent their lives filling it with objet d'art from their travels around the world. With art exhibitions, tours of the house or simply beautiful views of the coastline, this is several days out in one.
