Crew Clothing is delighted to support the children's charity, Sparks.
Our aim at Crew Clothing is to raise awareness of this very special charity throughout the UK and to raise money to ensure Sparks can continue to fund vital medical research and help all babies to be born healthy and stay healthy.
A bit about Sparks
Sparks is the only UK children’s charity whose sole remit is to fund pioneering medical research across all childhood illnesses.
Every year in the UK, around 700,000 babies are born. Most are born healthy, but sadly 1 in 30 will be born with a condition or disability which will affect them for life. This can be devastating for the babies and their families. For instance, every year:
• Pre-eclampsia kills 3 to 5 women and as many as 500-600 babies
• Spina bifida affects around 17,000 children around the world
• Neuroblastoma is the leading cause of cancer deaths in 1 to 5 year olds
• Over 1,000 children die or suffer permanent brain damage because of a shortage of oxygen at birth
This is a snapshot of the many different conditions that affect children. Our challenge is to change this.
Sparks vision is a world where all babies and children are given the best possible start in life and where a medical condition or disability is not a barrier to opportunity and fulfilment.
Sparks Fundraising
Founded by sports personalities grateful for their own good health, much of Sparks’ fundraising takes place through fun sporting and social events as well as corporate partnerships throughout the UK.
In the UK, many important areas of medical research depend heavily on funding from charities like Sparks. It is this knowledge that motivates the dedicated Sparks team and its supporters.
Hundreds of individuals, celebrities and corporate supporters, like Crew Clothing, take on challenges and raise funds to ensure that year after year Sparks are able to continue funding the vital medical research that improves the lives of children and those that love them, both here in the UK and globally.
