The technical details of our new sportswear explained.

If you’re a fan of the fairway, you’ll know that we just launched a collection dedicated to one of our favourite sports: golf. As proud partner to the Legends Tour, we know a thing or two about what a pro requires – and that’s performance-enhancing details. So, whether you’re out on the green or slinging back a few ice-cold drinks in the clubhouse, you can be sure you’ll be giving it your best shot in Crew. While you’re shopping, look for our technical icons and read on to find out what they all mean.
STRETCH
Swinging all those holes in one requires stretch – and plenty of it. With this in mind, we’ve added a number of different types to our golf collection including active and 4-way.
Cut with a high percentage of elastane, active stretch expands from left to right, moulding to your body as you move. For those times when you require that little bit more freedom, 4-way stretch expand sideways, upwards and downwards. The result is super stretchy comfort. Hitting that tee just got easier.

STRENGTH
It might look relaxed but if you take golf seriously, you’ll know that a day out on the driving range is hard work – and your outfit choice needs to keep up. Cue: abrasion resistance. This anti-bobble technique has been used within our women’s knitwear styles, including 100% merino, to ensure it lasts as long as that clubhouse membership. Merino comes with plenty of other added benefits that you’ll appreciate, from warmth to breathability and odour-resistance – more on that next.
SWEAT
Unfortunately, it’s a fact of life… the harder you play, the more you sweat. Luckily, anti-microbial and anti-odour fabrics such as copper nylon were invented and they’re not to be sniffed at – they literally stop the growth of microorganisms in their tracks so you can relax without a yellow mark in sight. The breathability of a weave is also important here. Acting like in-built air con, it’ll keep you feeling fresher for longer.
MOISTURE
You might have noticed that many of the fabrics in our golf collection have been designed to wick away moisture, such as COOLMAX®. The clues in the name, this type of fibre picks up all of those tiny beads of sweat and carries them away from the body, where it can evaporate easily on the outside of the fabric.
To add to this, we’ve also expertly crafted many of the styles for a quick dry finish so you can go from course to clubhouse in an instant. Ideal.

MATERIAL
Mercerised cotton
Just like cotton with a super silky finish, mercerisation is a technique that’s applied to a fabric to make it supersoft and glossy. Not only does it hold colour well wash after wash, it’s also ultra-durable. Want to get a feel for it? We’ve used it across a number of our golf polos.
DuPont Wadding
DuPont™ Sorona® is a renewably sourced wadding that partially comes from plants. Light as air yet super warm, this eco-efficient and feather-free performance fibre locks in heat – without the weight – making it perfect for in-between days. We’ve used it to fill our men’s quilted gilet.

WEATHERPROOF
Is there anything better than golf in the sunshine? If you’re going to be spending long periods out on the green, you might want to think about protecting your skin. Clothing with UV protection minimises the effect of harmful rays. When paired with SPF and a cap, you can rest assured you’re covered from head to toe.
When the weather isn’t on your side – which is often in Britain – reach for a style that’s been built for the elements. If there’s a chance of some drizzle, our showerproof jackets will protect you from a light dusting of rain. Waterproof zips will also work to keep out water.
Other times it’ll just be a bit blustery. Rather than miss a good afternoon, rely on our windbreaker to take off the chill. It’s got all the same features as our usual jackets – only lighter. With this in mind, it’s effortlessly easy to wear. You won’t even know it’s there, except you will… because all these details are designed to drive performance. Look good, player better.
