This is a harvest festival like no other. Delicious.
WALK SCILLY WEEKEND
12th – 16th October 2017
The nights might be drawing in but that’s no reason to pack away your walking boots. Not when The Scilly Isles is playing host to a weekend of sunny, blustery, beautiful walks. All perfect for spotting migrating birds, seal pups, bees and bats! Foragers will find rich pickings in the hedgerows and rock pool, and the reward for your day’s work will be a stunning sunset over the sea.
HALLOWEEN AT HAM HOUSE
21st – 29th October 2017
What better way to celebrate the scariest time of year than at a house that’s made Halloween history? At Richmond’s Ham House, the National Trust challenges you to find the witchy clues hidden all around the 17th century estate. Kids can decorate a pumpkin biscuit or make a witch’s hat, and then you can all settle down for some Spooooky Stories. As night falls, take a Terrible Terror Tour around the house. If you think you’re brave enough.
HOT CHOCOLATE WITH CARAMEL PRETZEL BITES
Serves 4 - 6. Preparation time: 5 mins.
Colder weather means hotter chocolate. But as Martha Collinson, star of the Great British Bake Off says in her new book Crave, if hot chocolate makes you think of instant granules, think again. This recipe takes a little longer (a very little) but it’s worth every second of anticipation. Creamy hot chocolate. Salted caramel pretzels. And so warming, it’s worth getting cold for.
